vTiger 7 - Comments Roll Up not working

When viewing a Contact or Organisation or Opportunity summary page, there is an option to 'Roll Up' comments

Trying to toggle the 'Roll Up' switch (on either the summary comments widget, or the Comments tab) has no effect. The switch will always go to 'Off' and no comments from linked records are displayed.
