php most common string functions in expression_engine

Hi! it would be awesome to have in expression_engine (the one in workflow used in "update fields" task) php functions like : explode, implode, str_replace, preg_replace, strtolower, strtoupper and so on or in alternative an easy way to include custom a expression file. What do you think?
